An architect rooted in the quietude of Bina, Madhya Pradesh, whose love for the natural world finds its fullest expression in the intricate grammar of Gond — India's ancient visual dialogue between humanity and the living earth.
Born and raised in the quiet town of Bina, Madhya Pradesh, Sakshi Sahu grew up in close intimacy with the rhythms of nature. That unhurried upbringing nurtured in her a deep and abiding appreciation for beauty — the kind that is found in the patterns of leaves, the language of trees, and the stories the land tells in silence.
Her academic journey took her to some of India's most esteemed institutions: she holds a B.Arch from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, and went on to complete her M.Arch at the School of Planning & Architecture, Delhi — the same storied campus that shaped her understanding of space, culture, and the relationship between built form and living systems.
Professionally, Sakshi has pursued Landscape Architecture — a discipline that sits precisely at the meeting point of design and the natural world. This lens deepens the philosophy behind her artwork: that nature is not a backdrop but a protagonist, deserving not just observation but reverence.
Drawn to Gond painting — a classical Indian folk art form celebrated for its intricate detailing, symbolic mythological narratives, and vibrant communion with flora and fauna — Sakshi has channelled her architectural precision and ecological sensibility into a distinctive visual practice. Her works, rendered on canvas bags and original paintings, carry the living world into everyday objects.
